I’m not going to lie to you, I struggle at night to not drink SOME sort of calories. Be it beer, wine, hot chocolate-SOMETHING. For the longest time it was a mental thing. I definitely felt like I needed a drink to unwind, to relax or to generally numb any unhappiness I might be festering. There’s a lot I could get into about the spiritual and psychological part of this particular challenge in my life.
BUT! I’m here primarily to tell you about what I try to do now as a better option. Warm water w/ raw honey, lemon and herbal tea if I’ve got it.
Herbal tea means no caffeine and you should be preservative and cruddy stuff free. RAW honey has all kinds of health benefits. Don’t get me started on lemons. And together, they taste like something.
Drinking my warm watery whatever satisfies the manual stimulation my body craves (much like a smoker and needing to do something with their hands/mouth). It is also soothing and ACTUALLY relaxing. Plus it’s oh so good for my body. Especially after all the other nights when I was drinking that other stuff. Btw, great habit to add in in the morning as wel!
