Shana & Shakeology

I resisted the protein shake for as long as I could. I was pretty convinced I should be able to get my nutrition from food. Long story short, you can’t. We can get into that later. You pretty much HAVE to supplement your diet in some form or fashion. But I still wasn’t convinced.

In 2015 I was ready to finally shed the married/Alaska/three babies weight once and for all. I had been wanting to do the 21 Day Fix for a long time but I kept not being able to justify the cost. One payday I just said “heck with it” and bought it before I bought groceries. And I’m SO glad I did. The challenge pack I got came with Shakeology but that was just a bonus to me-I wanted the pretty containers, the workouts, the challenge group and the eating plan.

I researched Shakeology-it’s definitely one of the best on the market. At the time I started drinking it I was nursing and working out 2-3 a day during the week. So it was VERY important to me that my nutrition was superb to keep my baby nourished as well as to prevent my body failing me altogether, lol.

The nutrition/vitamins/minerals/protein/etc in Shakeology really did it for me. I didn’t notice how much until I stopped drinking it-again trying to pinch a penny. Then I noticed my cravings (for crap) came back slowly but surely, my workouts suffered, I didn’t have as much energy….just all the things.

So, why do I drink it now?

  • Fills in the nutrient holes in my body. I consider it my daily multivitamin.
  • Fuels my busy lifestyle & workouts.
  • Keeps me feeling full & satisfied when I’m trying to keep my inner fatty under control.
  • It’s convenient. I can transport it, I can make it quickly. It’s one dish to clean. “fast food”
  • Curbs my cravings. Sodas, chocolate, chips, etc don’t really cross my mind when I’m drinking my shakeology daily. In fact, my favorite recipe tastes like drinking a frosty to me, so I am totally sweet tooth satisfied.

Recipe for chocolate frosty: 1 scoop chocolate Shakeology, 1/2 frozen banana, 2 tsp natural peanut butter, splash of vanilla extract, water & ice. Blend all together and use a thick straw to suck up the yumminess!

Other people drink it because they don’t like/have time for eating breakfast, others it gives them one no brainer meal a day, others it’s for weight loss, still others like that it helps them stay regular and at least one friend loves how it makes her skin pretty and her hair/nails grow better (I can attest to that one as well).

Serious Shakeology stuff:

I love this video. WACTH IT!!! It really gives the science, the reasoning….it’s good to know WHY you’re doing what you’re doing. I totally believe in learning about what you’re doing instead of just doing it because someone told you.
